Plastic Free Bali (Rotary)
A Rotary Foundation global grant by the Rotary Clubs of Bali Seminyak, Woodend (Victoria) and Perth with Yayasan Biosfir Indonesia, bringing waste sorting, composting, recycling and door-to-door education to four villages beside West Bali National Park.
Ten local women have been hired and trained to visit about 1,500 households and many businesses three times each, and more than 2,500 villagers are expected to be trained over two years. Local waste facilities were renovated and expanded, recyclables are sold and organic waste becomes compost for farmers. Read the story in Rotary Down Under.
