EU Single-Use Plastics Directive
Bans single-use plastic items that have alternatives, such as cutlery, plates, straws and foam food containers, and requires tethered caps.
Directive (EU) 2019/904 also sets a 90 percent separate collection target for plastic bottles by 2029, recycled content minimums for bottles, and producer responsibility for cleanup costs of items like cigarette filters and fishing gear.
