EndPlasticSoup (Rotary)

Rotary movement started by Amsterdam clubs in 2018 that mobilizes Rotary, Rotaract and Interact clubs worldwide to end plastic soup by 2050.

EndPlasticSoup began in 2018 when Rotary clubs in District 1580 (Amsterdam) held a plastic fishing weekend on the city’s canals. It became a Dutch registered charity in 2020 and now works as the plastics task force within ESRAG, the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group.

Its Ambassador Clubs run cleanups, school and sports challenges, plastic-free events, and outreach to supermarkets, restaurants and hotels. Co-founder Gert-Jan van Dommelen co-leads ESRAG’s Plastic Solutions Taskforce.
